  1. i was looking at it then i saw good for up to 155L  so then i was on the hff website and saw the red sea pro co2 kit, anyone no the price of this or have any feedback on it?

If I remember rightly, the Red Sea one is about $500, but it doesn't come with a CO2 cylinder - you'd have to get one of those through a gas cylinder company. :)

  2. Looked at the tank this evening and noticed a little guy on the front glass. When I post some pix, you'll see why I didn't realise they'd bred sooner cos of all the driftwood. I hadn't seen my male for a while so I was suspicious...but seeing little guys still is exciting!!

    :D:D:D e

  3. I've had this before. But it died for no apparent reason (tho at the time I didn't have t5 lighting, CO2 or flourite so that may not have helped :( ).... its leaves were very elliptical compared to the barteri variety. and a lighter green in colour.

It did grow a few new leaves after its initial ones fell off and rotted, but they were very small.

hope it goes well for you! :D

  4. You could go for rotala macranda...that's kinda pinky goldy red, and if your light isn't quite bright enough it just stays a kinda goldy green.

though apart from lots of light, red plants also need a lot of iron and really thrive with CO2.

Or if you want heaps of colour maybe go for the artificial, neon blue silk milfoil on TM

Or you could get some crypts, go for the nice rich earthy colours :D , and they're low light as well.

  5. wooops just remembered you posted a separate topic on this...

You could maybe try adding daily trace elements. Red Sea Flora24 or Seachem's trace would probably work - the Seachem one is the least expensive of the two per 100mL and says to use it only twice a week, while the other is daily and only requires i think 1 drop per 50L.

  6. In fact the swords are showing signs of nutrient deficiencies so I'm looking for answers for that at the moment

  7. a few years ago i had some 'bumble bee cats' that hff sold me. they only got to about 6cm and were awesome!!! they'd wizz about the tank and could eat a whole algae disc in one go, despite being so small. they never touched my tetras or any other small fish. and they didn't look like the one in the link phoenix put up ....

im pretty sure this is what they were: http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=bumblebeecatfish

  8. well, they have 20mg calcium, 33.4mg magnesium oxide, 9.8mg ferrous fumarate, 2.5 mg chromium chelate, 25 mg selenium chelate, 10mg manganese chelate 47mg potassium chelate and iron oxide....

So, I thought I'd give it a go... i did say experiment

Plants and humans don't need totally different things, we eat plants because they contain stuff they've absorbed, they need, which we also need.

I will let you know what happens
