    Poor Girl

Looks like the poor girl is going to bite the big one. She is just sitting at the top of the tank gasping for air. The male checks on her now and then, but it looks like the fungus has taken its toll. Has started healing up but she was sisk for about 3 weeks before she started showing any signs of a fungus. Had check everything I could in the tank, so looks like she was so run down that she caught a fungus or something else. No other fish in the tank to showing any signs of problems. Will miss the display she and the male put on. Still hoping she will pull thought.
  2. Thanks for all the advise, you are right Furan2 is good stuff, and very dare, to do my tank would be about 6-8 sheets over the days to treat. Don't know if the direct application is working or not, the wound looks no smaller, but also no bigger, she is swimming around more though. I might need to buy a smaller tank to use for treatment. Not sure how you check the sex, I do know that the female is smaller, and is not as colorful.
  3. Not that old, just over 2 years. Have now coats the sore with meths blue, looks like its still on, as still blue looking under the fluffy stuff. how often would i use this on the wound? I did get some in her eye but it just ran off.
  4. I have taken her out of the tank and droped a couple of drops of the 'wonder tonic to the wound, will see how this does as I have been to all the pet stores in ChCh and can't find what is required to help the old girl get better.
  5. mmmmmmmmmmmm router if you must. but I think the ones I got did the job pretty good. There where larger sizes available, up to about150mm, so you could build it up as you wish. I would love to have the knack to do a good router job, but ave never tried.
  6. Yes they are architraves, the one on the top is to allow the tank to sit about 25mm deep behind it to hide the bottom of it. The one at the bottom is to hide the only non MDF part of the whole cabinet and thats the 8 x 2' x 4' pine supports along the bottom.
  7. Thanks for the info. Will try and get some tomorrow. Cheers Craig
  8. Thanks, whats 'meth blue' don't think I've seen it. After 2 years with fish this is my first problem. Shes not easy to catch, but once in the net just lays there, so should be able to miss the eye.
  9. Sounds like most people here know what they are talking about. Just made a MDF cabinet for my 4ft tank using mostly 18mm MDF the primming part is the most important. There are alot of primers made for MDF I used 'White Knights' MDF Primer that I picked up from Bunnings here in ChCh. The door wern't cut that straight, but hey was the first time I'd made one.
  10. Looking for alittle help, have a sick female Firemouth looks like a fungus growing above her eye. It's a white fluffy type. have treated the tank with Wunder Tonic twice now over the last 4 days, but does not look any different. How long does this tonic take to work? as there is no info on the bottle apart from the dose to give. Any other Ideas, as I dont want to lose the old girl. Cheers Craig not a great pic I had just added the tonic into the tank. The fungus is just above the eye.
