Its been a while since I’ve visited the forums since I stopped keeping fish a few years ago now.
I have been looking after my almost 6 year old blue tongue lizard, Sky, and now I need to find him a new home – as next year I’m going to study in Dunedin and I can’t take him and his 6 foot enclosure with me.
As he has lived in a 6 foot enclosure all his life I don’t want him going to anything smaller than 4 foot.
I am leaving early February so I’m looking for someone to take him any time between now until 10 February.
I would like $50 for lizard only, but am open to selling his complete enclosure if anyone is interested, complete with stand, glass tank, ornaments, fake plants, basking rock, heat lamp, lightbulb for UV light (will need a new UV bulb soon). For complete set up and lizard I’d be wanting $500.
Pick up only is near Petone, Wellington.

Yesterday I found out that Margulies, my albino rainbow shark, passed away. :tears: He'd spent the last 6 months living with my sister as i've given up on keeping fish for the moment. He was one of my original fish from when I started keeping fish about 7 years ago. I'm amazed that he's survived the many tank disasters over the years. luckily I visited him over the new year break.
One last photo of him

Thanks everyone.
probably a giant "shield shell" (Scutus antipodes) - most photos on the net show it with its "shield" exposed, which is not always the case, they normally have a thin "skin" over it. Again, that one is the biggest that I have ever seen! Most people mistake them for a Paua without their shell.
We first thought it was a paua, but Scutus antipodes seems like it fits better.

For my christmas/new years break I went on a bit of a trip around part of the north island. I had christmas at Castle Point then went to Auckland, and out to Leigh and Murawai Beach, then down to Tauranga/ Te Puke and over to Hamilton. Over this time I took more than 1 thousand photos so the ones below are a small percentage of them.

This was found at Matacona beach near castle point. For scale look at the hand, not the body. Any ideas on what it is? (the paua shell in hand was not related)

Frog is an aquatic animal
That was my point. I think it makes more sense to feed a frog than a mouse to an arowana (I do realise that henward isn't thinking of feeding mice)
-
To me it makes more sense to feed an arowana an aquatic animal than feeding it a land animal, like a mouse. (not that i'd do either)

Heres my two enclosures:
Sky's 6 feet enclosure (Bluey)
Southern Bell Frogs set up:
-
Sky is about 1.5 years old and going through her first brumation. She started not getting out of bed around the end of May, so I started decreasing the temperature.
Last night she got up! could this mean that she wants a shorter brumation, or is it normal for blueys to get up during brumation?
She had a drink so i took some pics:

My pets:
Firefly (who had just had abcess surgery the day before taking this photo)

I'm a first time user and want to know how tickets are obtained after buying and paying for them.. does it get emailed, do we print it off do we have a ticket number to quote or what?
Once you put the details in & pay, a ticket is emailed to you that you can print out and then show to the bus driver.

Earlier today I got 3 adult Southern Bell frogs!
I've got 3 names picked out. The names have a bit of a theme, which came by accident

Got any photos of the bullies in the tank doing their thing?
Sure do - took some last night.
I'm still looking for names, at the moment they are Big one and Small one
Small One:
Big One:
-
Sounds good - I'll choose on the night then. I think i'd like 2 more bullies, so that the bioload is still low.
The place I go is pretty awesome, the 2nd time I was there, we caught (and released) some really big bullies that we think were fully grown commons. And almost every 2nd bully caught was a redfin...
-
would break up the black background some more too
My larger fern disintergrated, i'm going to get another one soonish - that will reduce the black
A pity about the inanga. Should I aim for more redfin bullies (there are lots where I go) or other species? How many more would suit this tank?
-
The tank they're in now is 75x38x38 - I moved them from the 60x40x40 in the hopes of potentially getting inangas
-
At the end of january, I set up my first native set up, in a 60x40x40cm tank. Due to some big changes petwise- I will only have 1 tank(of natives, no tropicals), sky- blue tongue lizard, my cat and next weekend I'm getting 3 southern bell frogs!
Last night I moved my 2 bullies in to a slighly larger tank (75x38x38cm).
I need to get another fern for the rest of the background
I would like to introduce some inanga, how many would suit this tank? Or could I add 1 or 2 more bullies and a few inanga? I'm not sure whats best for this tank...

There was some cropping - but not drastically.
Are you half pressing the shutter, then fully pressing it? it helps with focusing

for my macro shots I go to 'P' and then press the left hand part of the circle button (with the macro symbol on) then move it along to macro.
I also read the manual and didn't find it very useful
