Hmm.. My blue moscow in some lights looks a bit purple but you can definitely tell its a blue. Perhaps theirs is different, I'd have to see first hand. But it sounds like a guppy worth having regardless!
They are called Blue Green Moscow check this one out on Aquabid
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1282423211
dont they look almost exactly the same as the ones being sold here? AaaronBeta pointed this one out to me.

Isn't the first pic a banana plant?

Hi raewyna,
Yes those are very nice Pingu guppies, the LFS are actually selling them now as "Bumblebee guppies"

Hi All
I hope this is the best forum 2 put this thread in.
I'm after some really nice top quality pure strain moscow's.
Do we have really nice ones in NZ and who's the most reliable breeders to buy off.
I know there's dodgy sellers out there (sad 2 say, but true) and basically I want to purchase really nice ones that are actually a pure strain.
I would love to get my hands on some so I can take some pride in them and carry on the line knowing that I will have success and a number of beautiful guppies at the end.
Please PM me if you can help me out. I would also love 2 c pics of whats out there, NZ of course though.
Cheers
Is johhnny still active in this forum, Moscows are now available in the LFS.

does any one have full black guppies or full red albino as im looking to start up some show quality strains
You must be dreaming
There are however lots of imported guppies for you to choose from in the LFS both Animates and HFF. You will have to develop those strains yourself as they are not yet available in NZ.
You would need the following strains that are available in the LFS right now:
For the Full Black: Black Tuxedo female, Moscow male
For the Full Red Albino: Full Red Tuxedo male, Red Tail Albino female

I actually found heaps of submerged Homalia sp in a creek in Christchurch. Bundles and bundles of them looking like wiry java moss.
I took a little bit (less than a handfull) and chucked half of it in the tropical tank and half in the coldwater tank. They both grew so slow that I concluded that I'd rather have the java type mosses instead.

I experimented on my reject guppies by giving them high fat food, they grew very fast and became fat.
(Have you seen a fat guppy ) Then one by one they just die suddenly, very lively then suddenly dead. I disected them and they all had very fat internal organs which resembled fatty liver disease.
I was also watching my prized breeder guppy male courting a female and suddenly died mid-courtship. I guess it was heart attack, he was not fat though.

Hey
Mods please dont delete this as I want to know some info!
this link here http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =306958965
is it a nz moss or an actual aquatic moss never seen or heard of it before?
That one looks like Homalia pulchella, and is a NZ native moss, I found a big patch of it under a small waterfall when I was hunting for other species of Fissidens (not berteroi)
Fissidens is actually better and faster growing. Homalia is extremely slow when submerged.

If you bought it from Hutt Pets, that one is Echinodorus parviflorus "Tropica", used to be wrongly called parviflora or parva

that purple moscow is awesome! do you have any sideshots of the full reds?
No, he is still in quarantine in a plastic bin that's why I said I'll take pictures if he is still alive. He had a bad case of columnaris and velvet (whitespot?) given to him by the two females. See the blue water? When he is okey I'll take photo of him side view. I'll take pictures of him if he dies too.
-
that is so awesome!
wish you were up here so I could buy some babies!
But at least you have the Full Red tux female , I dont have one.
The red females with my Full Red male are Marlboro Red females so I can get rid of the slight tuxedo in the offspring eventually

Here they are:
Trio of Full Red
Two Moscows Green(right) and Old Fashioned(left)
Purple Moscow

yea id love to see some pics of the full red moscows!!
Promise this Saturday if he is still alive. There were three of them but I let them go to other members of the club (we were having our club meeting at the Pet Centre Porirua). I did not get all of them or else I will get the evil eye stares.
-
that was me and yeah they breed true but i have a problem with people not liking the colour and they think that the tail is riped and just go for the delta tail
This is a photo of a speartail from Malaysia Guppy Club. I dont think anyone would think their fins are ripped. must be something else and not speartail.
-
whered you get the moscows from? im intrested in some
Got them all off here in PetCentre, Porirua. And very healthy too! I got the Full Red Moscows there a week ago and a friend of mine got three Silverado Moscows also a week ago. it is good to see that Moscows are in New Zealand at last!
-
I just got these ones today:
Black Moscow - could be a Midnight Black since it does not fade under stress
Green Moscow
Blond Moscow - could be an El Dorado
And more Marlboro Reds and Blue Neon Platinum
Keep them rolling in!!!

Full Red Tuxedo - just slight tuxedo on the peduncle but head is full dark red
Silverado Moscows - silvery blue head, colourful body
Micariff - the non-metallic yellow
Sunset - yellow and red tail
Blue Platinum - metallic uniform sky blue no tuxedo

It is actually Eleocharis montevidensis according to ADA dont know if we have it in NZ although somebody suggests that it is an aussie-NZ plant.

The first pic is the native orchid Earina autumnalis it is an epiphyte but can also be seen growing on the ground.
-
alot of people say they get their fish through x-ray just wondering if they even come up?
The bigger fish might be seen but I looked at the xray of my bag full of guppies yesterday at the Christchurch airport and cannot see them at all.

The lotus seeds being sold on TM are the true lotus Nelumbo nucifera and is allowed to be imported as dry seeds.
they are not the Tiger Lotus which are Nymphaea lotus 'Zenkeri' which are also allowed but rarely available due to the seeds needing to be wet when stored.

Hi,
Just find some females with lots of evenly spaced black dots so the resulting offspring will have more rays. Notice that the shorter part odf the tail ends at the black marking.
Here's mine:
