All you need to worry about is air locks in the canister and or in/out tubes.
As mentioned make sure you prime it by filling the input tube (sometimes fills by itself when valve is turned on) and also filling the output spray tube with water so that theres no air in it. There is also an air bleed plug I think on those at the top - unscrew it and allow the air to escape then screw it back down. Power the filter and you should be good to go.
