  1. no wasnt talking about u IOU1 was just moaning about the forum in general.

ducati, i am afraid its not that simple as u would need to know the back ground of each fish eg color of their parents, their grandparents.....etc and even then u cant be 100%

assuming both are good genetic line breed u'll have most of them red and red/white and if ur lucky some redcap and pure whites. on the other end of the scale, if they were from a very bad line u will get mostly bronze fantails.

of cause they will all start out browny color, feeding of carotene and exposure to sun light will help with the process.

  2. moisten your vermiculite 50/50 by weight with clean cool boiled water,it should clump together when squeezed by hand but not drip water, damp but not wet,if that makes sense?sit them on top half buried and put a damp paper towel over the top, cover with the lid and just float them as you are.Check weekly.if the paper is dry moisten it again,if not leave it till next time, should not need alot if any more moisture in such a place.depending on temp have had them out in 65 days but there is no set time,if they stay nice and white like a mushroom should be good,if they dry up and wither after 2 weeks or so no good.

perfectly explained, ideally u would have the eggs in the exact same position as it was "set" right after it was laid but i assume its too late now.

  3. there is still a good chance they will hatch. half fill the ice cream container with vermiculite or something similar like wood shavings.....etc. spray so its moist then close the lid and place in hot water cupboard.

the reason she's laying in the water is because she doesn't have a proper basking area which they really should be getting.

    good luck

  4. Are you anywhere near Nathan Rd fishboi? I was ripped off by a trader there and am waiting for the authorities to get to him. Want to visit a merchant with some heavies in tow to get my goods for me?

yeah i was, only had 3 hours spare though so didnt get to see everything. [on a work trip] in china at the moment so stuff cheaper again :D

yeah learn not to trust anyone here no matter how genuine they come across, something i have to keep telling my self while over here.

Think you should buy a carton of them and bring em back fishboi

retailers are having a hard time as it is with other importers

  5. yes, the patch grows as the fish grow.

yes, the patch fade with age. starts when they hit around 1 just like with most pattens/color on most fish

no, breeding GBA with patches dont seem to increase the chance of getting off springs with patch. i keep all my patches and breed with at least 6 together over 3 generations with not even the slight increase with offspring resulting in patches.

  6. Thanks fishboi, it's such a drastic change (for me) in just a few months, i'm really pleased.

Yeah i noticed that on the sides of the shell, wasn't sure if it was normal. Will that sort itself out as he grows? Or is the damage done?

its quit a big turn around in such a short time, a lucky turtle for sure, unfortunately the damage is done but don't worry as it will not effect its health as long as it doesn't progress. if given the right diet which u are and enough living space it's shell will start growing outwards again but will always look a little "pinched" from above.

is it a girl or boy? hard saying "it" all the time

u will read red eared sliders a more carnival when young and more herbivore when older although true its better to just feed 50/50 if u can. try braking a bit of carrot into the tank and see if it gets eaten. [carrot sinks which is handy]

  7. good on u gatito, its looking so much better than before but still some way to go. looking at the brightness of it's "red ear" its reasonably young so the shell should be a lot brighter green.

from the second pic its side of the shell is already curved in which is caused by poor diet, up keep and maybe not enough living space. unfortunately its so common to an extent where ppl think its normal. to avoid this progressing avoid really fatty foods [ just because the turtle like to eat it doesn't mean its good for it] and just keep doin what u do which seem to be a good job. :D
