    Some Pics

Nice pics as always fay. What is the name of the Tang? I've seen one once before, very cool. Tim
  3. Motorola Razar, whatever the new one is. 2mp camera takes pretty sweet shots. First time I've had a cool phone, much fun to be had with it.
  4. Go this shot of my new sailfin tang the other day, turns out to be better than the cannon powershot G2 I have. Go figure?!? This was also an excuse to show off my new favourite fish He's about 7 inches at the moment and a breeze to keep, very happy. Great price too (thanks Nick)
  5. Mine got up to 30 last weekend! got a fan running during the day now and it sits at 27. Nothing seemed to be upset with the constant high temperatures lately though
  6. I got one of the 3 stage versions of these, slightly cheaper than the 4 stage. I had it shipped to a mate in London and had him post it to me as it was supposed to be cheaper than getting them to send it direct. The price of freight doubled the cost. $395 landed, was 3 months, yes, 3 MONTHS LATE, and it was not in working order (fortunately not a major as I could get a replacement part locally). In the end I could've got a unit that produced more gallons per day for slightly less in Auckland. They do seem to be a reasonable unit but I wish I'd bought locally. Do wonderworld carry the replacement filters for them?
  7. Nice one Alf, good to see it all comming together. Now you just need about 1000 frags and your away
  8. Technical info (yawn): Laguna 6 return pump (using a 5 at the moment with the 6 being on the fritz) Laguna 4 on a closed loop hoked up to a 3/4" sea swirl 2x 6100 streams with a 7095 multicontroller 450 watts of heating hooked up to an aquamedic temp controller Artic needle wheel skimmer 2x 250 watt MH's, diamond reflectors, navra bulbs 1x 4', 1x 3' T8 actinics for supplimental lighting salinity: 1.025 ca: 450ppm mag: 1320'ish alk: 11.4dkh temp:25-28 deg nitrates:<5 ppm phosphates: 0 but I suspect they're in there nitrites: 0 Amonia:0 The reworking of the rocks into pillars along with the addition of the sea swirl has seen a great improvement in flow around the tank, with the fish and sps frags seeming much happier. Although it does look like an insane person did the aquascaping for me
  9. Thanks Fay Soon I hope to be a person who can moan about the amount of time I have to spend scraping coraline algae of everything!
  10. Thanks Ben. Shot anyone yet? Wasp, its amazing how they grow when they have room to breath
  11. I cant lower the whole frame but I can drop the lights down by using long screws through the hole in the top of the reflectors. It was the easiest, most secure but cheap way I could figure to do things. Just a bit of aliminium angle really.
  12. Shot shows the actinics on and shows initial aquascaping (which has changed about a million times) The exciting 'first time with the halides on' day And this is where its is now Wasp may recognise these Some inhabitants Thats all for now, but just a quick thanks to: steve, Nick, Cookie, Wasp, Ben, Cracker and everyone else who has helped with advice, time frags and everything. Oh, tank is now 5 months along and is now seeing the hair algae receed and coraline biggining to take hold. Other higher forms orf algae like valonia and aiptasia are also now starting to grow, yeah
  13. All seems ok so onwards. Cabinet after much struggling is moved inside. Now wrapped in aluminium composite panel and covered with pond liner A pic of the elecrtics and gear shoved into the end of the cabinet Sump and artic needle wheel skimmer finally get to see some action First day after filling
  14. Hi all. Just doing a brief post up of my tank build shots about 6 months late . It'll be none too detailed or impressive, so dont get too excited. Just wanted to show it to everyone, especially those wo have helped guide me along the way. Cabinet under construction Finished interior of cabinnet Testing of DIY sump Final return plumbing and postioning of lights I'll stop here to see if its worked so far...
