  1. Anenomes have gone to live in a mates tank till I get the new bigger tank readyto swap everything over.
  2. There is also a glass called difused that looks good on the back of a tank, though it is harder to get in the thicker sizes, as its mainly used in picture frames
  3. If anyone is going to cut glass, get your self a decent oil filled cutter. The cheaper metal ones with just a wheel are pretty useless! Also, the thicker the glass, the older the cutter you want. So to cut 3 or 4mm a brand new cutter is fine, but if you want to cut heavier glass an older cutter is much better
  4. Low iron glass is called starphire glass. It will have a more blue tinge than green. I have never found it to scratch any easier than normal clear float, though it will scratch more easily once toughened. I wouldn't recommend polishing the edges as this gives a weaker joint than clean cut. Here in Aus we pay (wholesale) around $54 a sq m for 10mm clear float cut to size. Starphire is around $120 a sq m cts. Polishing we charge $3 per linear metre.
  5. That setup is running on an external cannister. New tank has a sump, and I am looking into skimmers now, deciding what I want. Like I said I am looking at 2 250w halides and some black tubes for extra colour. The main concern is I think I will need to run an open hood due to the heat from the lights....
  6. Hi all I am new, Mark from Sydney Australia. This is my current 4 foot tank, not much in there at the moment, I am setting up a 6x2x18, which I plan on moving all my current stock plus rock and more rock into. Anyway tank is 1200 long x 300 x 300, which I made (I work in the glass industry!) and hood and stand are solid maple. ATM I only have 2 18w daylight tubes and 2 black tubes for lighting. Looking into Metal Halides and black tubes for the new tank. Anyone reccomend anything for me?
