  1. i think they are hybrids and it is not supported by aquarists, scientist (i don't know why) have created these fish. There was an article on this in Australia and they warned everyone that if this fish was to be released in our water ways then there would be a very very large threat and increase in population of this fish. lets just hope no one releases them.
  2. not 100% sure but i think it is a 'Botia lohachata' or a Pakistani (YoYo) Loach. here: http://naturalaquariums.com/fish/blohachata.html i think that there maybe different colour identities for this loadch.
  3. kellz i guess the more you ask the more you learn, basically when i began my tropcial set up, i always had problems with my water but that was 3 years ago lol. everything is great now i get about a death every 6 months even longer, just bascially reading opinions and articles will help you improve you fish experience. and to solve you goldfish problems there are those that have posted and said that there might be fighting happening, and to ensure that it is not helping get a container or something for it to go in and feed it, leave it in there for a week or so and check if the fish's scales have returned. but if you are really cautious and worried about it maybe go to a lfs and buy some medcation, any would probably do because its seems that golfish respond to medication pretty good.
  4. i have a few red tailed sharks and they are great! they are about 4inches long, and they basically eat anything that goes in he tank . when i reach down in the tank to rearrange the rocks and do water changes they usually offer me to hold them isn't that great, until they start sucking or kissing it feels strange and weird lol. I have had no experience with their aggressiveness with the other fish but i guess that its because i have more than one. easy solution buy another one, they are pretty cheap in melbourne and are great to keep.
  5. altough you may find that these worms are harmless to your fish, i'd just like to inform you that a friend of mine had this same incident and told me that they did not harm the fish but instead they starting ruining and harming his fish tank. These worms were starting to eat the silicon between the glasses attached together, he was in a very bad situation because if he did not repair it in time then the tank would be unbalanced and cause a tank crack. He had to buy a clay made for aquariums and had to empty the tank until where the silicon had been eating. Lukily his fish and tank was fine and now he goes through the correct procedures to remove all the existing and future worms in his tank (i am unaware of how to remove them). But because of Pegasus' handy and helpful website you can go through this procedure: "To get rid of your worm problem, try not feeding your fish for 3 days (no, this is not cruel... healthy fish will do fine with an occasional short fast, and it will improve their water quality) and giving your tank a good cleaning with a 25% water change. If you keep small fish, some of them may actually enjoy chowing down on the little worms... guppies and platies, for example, love them. If you keep your tank clean, your filter well maintained, stay true to not overstocking your tank, and do regular water changes, your worm problem should be gone in no time. " good luck
  6. hello kellz how long did you keep the clown fish until it died? kellz and john1 i'd just like to inform you that clowns are very sensitive to the water that you are providing them with, one mistake and they are gone. I myself have lost a few clowns. Clowns are very very hard to keep in the early stages (once you have brought them), what you should do is the normal routine for introducing a new few member to the tank, like leaving the bag in the tank for about 20mins then start adding little proportions of the tank water in the bag so that the clown can get used to it. Once your clowns have adjusted to your water conditions they will become the most hardest fish in the tank. I have several clowns swimming around, healthy, eating and are about 3inches in size. i just hope this helped you a little and good luck with them in the future. John1 when they are lying down and look dead, they are sleeping or resting so it is normal. after a very long swim they have a rest until they feel active again. Fish do die but if the whole tank dies then there is something wrong with you water, you should try measuring you water. ok i think thats enough so cya around
