    Nitrates Gone!

How do we know that zeovit is the original, zeovit might be the copy. Probably is. Zeovit can claim that they did the instructions, that’s about it, there are other filter systems that have been out before zeovit which are very similar. Let’s see your everdance about the other zeovit stuff not working.

    Nitrates Gone!

zeofood is more than 5 diffrent organic acids that are linked together with iron to a relatively big Carbon molecuel. So only the heteretrophic bacterrias my grow on it. This is ablsolutly special in the world. People use it and run there aquariums with 0,0 mg Phospaht because the bacterias (heteretrophic ones) use the Phosphate and nitrate in there methabolism. On the zeolit the bacteria finds a lot of Trace elements and other componds that is like a magnetic influence fix on the zeolit. To much food for bacteria will increase there growing tremendously. Speciallly in fresh water tanks the oxygen will be reduce by the bacteria. Fish may have problems. In salt water the pH will sink to much if you give to much zeofood This was translated from a scientist in german that has been making his filtration for sometime. the company zeovit may have some sort of patent to sell the intructions but they are not the only company that makes the stuff. it has been around for years , amazing what marketing does these day.
  3. i would also get a tank made up by a cabinet maker and they buy the skimmers and lights etc . the deltec brand is very good, i have had my skimmer for 4 years and it is great. Hollywood fish farm stock deltec.

    Skimmers

you can get skimmer made for freshwater. I have seen a few on the net. however there is no demand in new zealand,
  5. peety when stated a new set up it is better to cycle the tank for 6-8 weeks. you should also be putting all you rock in at once, because if you add new rock again the rock will go through the cycle and release ammonia and phostphates in the tank. The live rock at janssens is not live rock, all it is is base rock which has been cycled. live rock is not allowed into new zealand. If you add a mussel to the tank it will create ammonia, and that is how the cycle starts. If i were to start a tank again i would add most of the coral and then the fish. the main reason for this is that the fish cause a lots of waste so it is hard to get your corraline algae growing and keeping phostphates down is also a problem.
  6. I have seen so many retail stores advertise the narva blue t5 tubes as 20k. Is this correct ? because when you go to the narva web site they claim that thay are only blue in colour not 20k. If this is correct why are retail stores claiming that they are 20k.
  7. Dr Felix I think your comments are far enough. I think the prices will drop shortly anyway as there is a group of people who have opened a importing facility, and will be selling fish /coral over the internet and direct to public which will be great. I have been told that the prices will be about 50% cheaper than Janssen’s and any other retail store.
  8. Dr.Felix. I take it that you are a beginner at reef keeping and are still learning how to keep marine fish. I have seen centropyge bispinosa sell for $200 . this fish is normally $80 in most shops. This is only one example of the outrages pricing. I would say that they would loose about 50% of there stock due to neglect and bad buying decisions., Fancy trying to keep acropora in between two 150w watt metal halides, this is no way enough lighting. Also they buy fish that are imposable to keep for the hobbyist. If they knew what they are doing they would not make these mistakes, so I guess the prices are high so that the hobbyist can pay for there incompetence. I have been to the Auckland reef club and have found that most members have the same opinion of Janssen’s. The Club has about 60 people on the mailing list and growing. We have found that Hollywood Fish Farm in Auckland (www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz) to be fair on there pricing structure and advice. Normally if they can’t answer a question they would find out not just guess. Have you noticed that Janssen’s have closed there marine sections in the North Shore and South Auckland shops. I wonder why?
  9. check out this link that i found www.aqua.net.nz/index.html
  10. pegasus The Tropical Marine Aquarium ... Vincent B Hargreaves when was this book published ? 1960s you need to update your books . or check out the links by ajbroome on Zanclus cornutus(moorish idol)
  11. pegasus. you should find out more before you tell me that morish idol is easy to keep. please send me contact details of a person who has one alive. i cant find anyone. even books that i have and taking to real experts overseas. they also say that they are very hard yo keep. the last morish idol was $90 at hollywood fish farm. i would also compare jansens reef tank with hollywoods , and then tell me who knows what they are talking about.
  12. i went to jansens today to see if they had anything decent for sale. what a shock. they are trying to sell a bubble coral for $250 and a morish idol for $240. what a joke, no wonder the hobby is stuffed. also they were trying to tell me that the morish idol was easy to keep. this fish is not easy to keep. has anyone else had bad experiance at this shop.
