OK, we know they mate more than once now. Apparently they mate for 2-4 hours. For all you voyeurs, here's a pic of them at it!

Today our dwarf gouramis mated, we got three boys on Thursday then three girls yesterday. We took two of the boys out as the powder blue started building a bubble nest. We left the girls in and then one decided to mate with him. Do they only mate the one time, or do they mate a few times in a brood? We have a small tank to put the nest in, but should we put the male in there with them? If we put the male in with them should I put the filter on and then turn it off as soon as the eggs hatch? Is it true that they hatch within 30 or so hours? Sorry bout all the questions, but I wasn't really expecting them to mate so soon and only know the basics.

I didn't know where to put this story but since its about a pleco I thought I would put it here. We have two Plecos and recently moved one into a two foot tank for the time being as they aren't seeing eye to eye. Well anyway Stripey in the two foot tank has been sulky and hiding, so yesterday I put some dwarf gouramis in there. Soon as they were introduced Stripey perked up swam around the tank looking very lively. About an hour later I look in the tank and Stripey was laying on his back on the gravel tummy in the air, (I thought I may have to preform mouth to gill resuscitation). On a closer look I noticed he had a pea in his mouth and was sucking away quite happly, he saw me looking at him so he scooted on his back to under the filter to finish his pea. Once finished he went back his normal position and went around cleaning gravel and glass. I just wondering if anyone elses Plecos lie on their backs like this?
