Altolamprologus Compressiceps Pictures

Featured Replies

Borrowed the camera from work

Just 2 pictures of my Altolamprologus compressiceps female

The male was camera shy so only got shots of her

I think they are red fin or sometimes called fire fin

I’m trying to get this pair to breed so they are on their own in a 300ltr tank

Quite happy with each other so fingers and fins crossed the do the deed

Anyway hope pictures of her turn out ok

Cheers :D

All up I have 5 Altos but 2 are a different colour

a lot lighter in body colour

I think out of the five

I have 4 males and there seems to be the one female’ but who knows

Anyway these 2 in the300ltr tank seem to have paired off

:D

Cool, I havent seen them for sale for ages!! Good luck with the breeding, I'm sure the babies would be worth a bit if you did.

Thanks Freakyfish

The male is even better looking but very shy

Are Alto's easy to get in Australia?

They are very hard to find over here not many come in at all

I have just been very lucky to find the 5 I have

We need more of these neat fish over here so I hope all goes ok with this pair and they have a lot of fry.

Able then to offer others the opportunity to own them

All the best :D

Looking good man good luck with breeding them would be good as you say to spread them around :)

nice!

ive got 2 pairs of gold head comp well thats what i think they are

i just had both females with egg tubes down , i thort they may have spawnd but another male got in the cave and that was the end of that and the females skiney again so i think she did end up laying

the other females still got her egg tube out and the males right by her cave lol so hopefuly they get down to it , still all very young though so i dont expect to much from them

nice will keep an eye and ear out and see if anyone willing too import these for you

Alto's can be obtained over here easy enough. Well some variants anyway. Some take a little bit of time to look for.

I am with Brad too. Lovely colour in the fins.

Frenchy :D

Will add you to the list should I be lucky enough to get Fry from them

Aquatopia

Don't give up looking for these neat fish

I bought 2 of mine from a local shop and the others I got from a person on this site

Paid good money for them though

Let your local shop know you are keen to purchase some but the way things are with importing and especially with regards to these more exotic fish luck seems to be not on us fish fancier’s side.

Well worth it should you find some

Good luck :D
