Hi Team, I was travelling around NZ quite a while ago and during my journey I came across a very interesting cat. It was advertised as a "Pictus" . Looked really cool so I bought it. Now that my "little" pictus has grown into an 18" beauty I thought I should check out what variety he is - he has a flat head and really cool vertical stripes Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm :-?

This is probably worth posting as I wasn't aware that small largely vegetarian plecos could do so much damage to each other. In my 6 foot tank, my dominant male flash pleco has been showing signs of breeding for a while now but with no result. Sometime friday night he decided that his bamboo cave was not as desirable as one of the other caves held by my male mustard spot pleco and got a little bit nasty on the other male. The beaten male has exposed flesh on each side of the head at the base of where his interopercular odontodes (the facial whiskers at each side of the head) should be. He's now in another tank and will hopefully recover but he's taken one heck of a…

I was given a bristlenose catfish over a year ago, it has been living happily with my goldfish in a cold aquarium and has survived the cold winter that we've had, which i am amazed. Anyway, ive just set up a tropical aquarium and was wondering if it would survive a cycling tank? Or am I better off leaving it with the goldfish until the new tank is cycled? Cheers!

I'm writing a couple of Aquarium World articles and am after a good image of a clown pleco (Panaque maccus) and a small spot gold nugget (Baryancistrus sp. L81). Has anyone got images that I could use (with acknowledgements) for the articles. It'd be nice to just pull them of the web but there are copyright issues doing that. And a big thanks to those that have helped out already with other images.

I have three gba's all the same age and all off the same person and they are about 5cm long now. One of them and only one of them has developed a browny/black spot on its side directly below its dorsal fin and it's about the size of the end of a pencil. Any ideas what this could be and if it would cause any harm to itself and/or other fish? Cheers

I'm thinking about putting a UV Light over my pleco tank so that I can get a better look at their antics at night. Can pleco's see UV light and will it effect their nocturnal behaviour?

I see that there is some of these on that auction site. I realize that they are fairly common and was wondering what was a realistic price per fish and how hard they are to breed. Cheers

My tank has recently gone through an ammonia spike and I fear that the Pictus Catfish might have contracted White Spot through the stress, What treatments can I use on Pictus that will not harm them as they are scaleless. Should I just treat with Blue Circle White spot remover at half dose or is there anything else you guys can advise for them? Thanks.

I have a 25cm common pleco in with my african cichlids. We have just put silca sand in the tank Now my question is: is the pleco ok with sand, as we were watching him/her last night trying to eat a algae wafer and it seemed he was getting rather stroppy with sand going in his mouth is this normal. any suggestions or help would be great, thank you.

Hey all, Its been a long time since I have had too much to do with any pleco's, so here's hoping that these new guys do ok. I just picked up 4 of them anyway... They are called Pseudancistrus sp. L067 (unfortunatly they don't have a common name, but they are an awsome fish. Here's hoping that they settle in well! I will try to get some decent pic's once they are a bit more active... Cheers, Jake.

awww theyre so cute. I have put the dad and babies into a smaller tank cause the cave they were in held water at the bottom (so they were never out of it). Poss 20 +. put a couple shrimp pellets and 1/2 slice cucumber in for them and they are just all over the place now. Def free swimming, 1cm in length, no idea when hatched?? How long will / should dad stay with them? He's not a friendly dude at the best of times so not the type to hang out on the glass. yay.

Over the last week and a half my 3 bronze cories have been breeding Non of them started to darken, so i suspect they were infertile. Then a couple of days ago i noticed that the ones on the glass were dark :bounce: :bounce: The next day they were gone tho (i've got guppies, gbas and cories in the tank) Then yesterday I noticed another spawn and decided to try to raise them. This morning I woke up to find 28 of these : I've brought some decap brine shrimp eggs to feed them with 8) Any advice??
