Can we get these here? I thought we couldn't get them, and i've never seen them, but i just stumbled on someones old webpage where they are breeding them. I'd love a couple, such cool markings.

A mate is in ch-ch and saw a blue spot plec that I might get him to grab for me. It has no L number and is described as being brown/grey with iridescent blue spots over its entire body. It has bristles on its nose so I suppose its a member of the ancistrus family. Can anyone give me more info on this plec or direct me to a photo. I have heard of a few of these in the shops lately. Cheers

I have just got 2 chocolate talking catfish approx 5cm in size. I have put them in with my treasured dwarf plecs for a week or so until I get the next new tank sorted. I have read that chocolates can be quite aggressive and carnivorous. Do I need to worry about chocolates of this size??

I am going to get a school of Cory's for my 3' tank but don't know which species. I am tending toward Skunk Cory's for their aesthetics, or Sterbai's. So I am after your opinion's on your favourite Cory. What is your favourite Cory species? and Why is it your favourite?

I purchased, some time ago, from LFS Synodontis multipunctatus(cuckoo catfish) turns out they are Synodontis decorus. I paid around $45 ea. now I need to shut down the tank ,I dont know what I can get for them. Also I have been keeping the pH up around 8 to suit the cuckoos (wich they are not) the decorus actually prefer lower pH. Very annoyed at Animates, Lincoln Rd . Please check ID of fish properly before committing to buying so you dont get caught out like me. I feel stupid.

My girl has changed quite a bit in shading and pattern - some of the spots are now splotches and her colouring has faded in some areas - this is my first BN so not sure if this is quite common in the species

OK I know i have tried this before but i guess it is worth trying again, I have a large female L102 and would really like to know if anyone knows of a male as i would really like to see this fish paired up. I know there are not many in the country and it would be a shame to lose such a nice hypan especially with the availability of plecs in general in NZ Any help would be appreciated, cheers

The first fish I ever wanted to breed when I started keeping fish 2 years ago was BN. It was really hard to watch everyone posting about how they have heaps of them without trying, and now I finally have babies!!! I'm really excited, the dad was really good with them, and I've got about 30 that I can see, but I guess there's probably another 20 or so hiding out of view. They're all out and about now, and growing really fast. Here's a pic, the plant you can see is duckweed; so you can see how tiny they are!

I have just picked up two young borneo suckers. They have been it my tank now for a week, and I am really not to sure if they are feeding or not.I have been putting in spirulina discs in and the flakes that I feed the WCMM's, some fall to the bottom.I have not seen them eat anything from the gravel at all. They do go up and down the glass all the time, and I have seen waste hanging out of there behinds, so they must be getting something.Do they feed at night when the lights are out? Or am I just not looking at the right times?

HI there Hopefully some one can supply some suggestions as to death causes. Have bred several batches of these delightful catfish. I seem to have not trouble keeping them alive but have heard back from one chap I sold several to that he has lost most of them and has had fish from the last two batches. He says that the stomachs are very white when they die. Mine have a very basic diet of cellulose, flake, pleco pellets etc and of course there is always wood in the tank. Temperature around 24-25 in my tanks and not too sure about ph though. I have these in most of my tanks without any issues although I did lose a couple of older ones (about 1.5 years old) since…

What temp is best for them - we are looking at getting one and want it to go into our discus tank where the temp is at 28-29. I've searched google and haven't really got much info but what i have found is that they like it around up to only 26. But we have seen them in the LFS discus tank display tank so thinking maybe it'll be ok.

Just wanted to know what everyone has lurking in their tanks these days. Quite often catfish are overlooked or unseen when visitors see tanks as they're often shy creatures that are best seen only during feeding times. Due to this, it's even hard for even us to remember what we have sometimes. Heck, I'm even starting to lose track so if you wanna just use this thread as an inventory checklist, it's in a section that you can come back and edit and update as you wish (I know I will).

Just to let people know that Clown Loaches aren't as fragile as some would think. I have 12 in 2 tanks the biggest about 20cm, 8 of them including the big one have been through a CO2 setup spill in an AR850 a couple of years ago which killed other loach species, angels and a 15CM BGK, they wern't happy but survived with no noticeable side effects. A week ago i moved my 4' loach tank in the lounge to make way for a much larger tank, the move went well with no probs until i got home the following night and went to feed, put my hand in the water and freaked, it was hot, a check of the thermometer revealed 38 degrees. I lost 2 adult pairs of GBA's and a 40cm BGK, all the c…
