henry
Was browsing products from Australian mail order site www.aquariumproducts.com.au, and noticed new category of power filters, 'tank top' filters, all manufactured by Mozoo. These seem to operate just as the integral filters in Jebo and AquaOne 'all in one' aquariums do. The only part intruding into the tank itself is an intake tube, water flows through media in a container sitting on the tank lid and then flows back into the tank. Very similar to 'Hang on Tank' filters, but look a lot tidier, easier to access and can be larger. The site claims these are the number one selling filter in Asia. These could also be adapted so that water flows through a shallow container sitting on the tank lid housing heaters, c02 reactors, thermometers etc., a kind of reverse sump that could be easily accessed. The prices are also excellent, 35.00 AUD for 1000 lph model. Link to this retailer is here: http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/category83_1.htm Thoughts? HummingBird
Looks good to me! I wonder if they ship to NZ though.
henry
No mention of shipping to NZ on the site, although surely as this retailer is only located in QLD this wouldnt be too much of a dificulty, they ship any order anywhere in Australia for AUD7.50. They also promise to beat any competitors price (in Australia only, I would presume) by 10%.
AMAZONIAN
I am negotiating with a company in China at this point in time that will give us the SOLE NZ agency for these filters. There are several samples on the way via FEDEX so as soon as they arrive I will let everyone know, and Take orders.
smidey
Hi, this item you noted is almost identical to my filter in the hood of my Sunsun tank. The pickup pipe extends to the bottom of the tank, the actual "powerhead" or motor has to sit in the water for cooling. The spout with the small clear hose to the top of it is where the pump creates the air bubbles (water flow sucks air down the tube & mixes it with the water, my pipe has a valve on the end of it to adjust how much air is taken which regulates how many air bubles are created) & water flow inside the tank. These are very basic & effective units although I cannot comment of the reliability or quality of that particular brand. My Sunsun item is very easy to clean, the propeller shaft is magnetic & slides out easily for internal pump cleaning. My unit pumps 900L/Hour through a spraybar into four containers like the one shown on this item so you may have to change the filter wool or media more regularly. AMAZONIAN
Hi Smidey Thanks for that info. I hope to have the samples of three models here in a day or twi so as we can ascertain which ones we will bring into NZ. as you say they are efficient, easy to clean without getting into the tank, and they can be adjusted. They appear (from what data we have to hand) to be an extremely good unit, and I am really thrilled with being the NZ agent for them as well. smidey
Hi Amazonian, I guess with Sunsun & Mozoo coming out of asia there is a possibility that they are made in the same factory & may have identical parts etc possibly, do you know anything of this? Also i'm guessing with your ID picture you are exsperienced with angels possibly? If so can you take a look at ANGEL GROWTH RATES in the Cichlids section 7 let me know what you think. HummingBird
In actual fact that's a picture of one of my tanks 8) To answer your question, your friend's Angels probably had their growth stunted by being in a tank that was too short.
