JDM
im runing a durso in my overflow. i get bubbles droping through the standpipe into my sump, they are then picked up by my return and chopped up and fed back into the display. ive been playing with differant things to try to rid my display of the very fine bubbles but nothing has worked, ive changed the position of my return pump pick up, i have put filter wool over the overflow inlet (sump end) tryed altering the flow of the durso, still getting bubbles no matter what i try. :-? i have around a 2inch drop over the over flow, as per instruction on the diy durso page. has anyone had this problem? how did you fix it? is a full syphon going to stop the air entering the sump, therefor stop it entering the display? lduncan
Full siphon will help, as you won't have the air in the overflow which the durso introduces. Another thing you can try if you're not to keen on reworking the stand pipe is putting a U at the bottom of the overflow where it enters the sump, it will direct the water and air bubbles to the surface where they can dissipate faster. suphew
A 'T" on the end of your down pipe can help as well, if this doesn't work try puting some baffles in you sump so the water goes over then under then over etc deviders this should force the bubbles to the surface. TM
or if you are really good with diy stuff get two containers, you want one to fit inside the other. The pipe will go into the centre of the first, the water will flow up and over into the second container. Drill or cut holes in the bottom of the second container so the water can escape thru the bottom. or Put a filter sock over the pipe in the sump. or build a new sump
