Parrot Cichlid war wounds

Hello all, ive got a parrot cichlid and another unkown species name cichlid (looks like a normal cichlid) pardon my lack of knowledge whom have had a bit of a clash

they did the breeding thing i think it was? swimming in tight circles around eachother and biting/kissing. they cant be any more of different cichlids

and i noticed that the parrot has got a few fins ripped now and also her (jsut named her polly so hey lets guess its a she) lips which parrots have are big and they are kind of blistered a fair bit

just wondering will the fins and lips heal? is there anything i can do (ie add certain stuff to the water)

should i seperate them? or is this just norma behaviour and results, they were together for about 2 weeks with no issues, just chased eachother a bit when i first introduced the parrot. there are a few other cichlids in the tank too

thanks heaps

Nope thats fighting not breeding. Remember cichlids are territorial

Sounds like the old cichlid dosen't like the new cichlid, thats why he has been chasing him & for the parrot to be damaged, he has tried to stick up for himself.

Looks like the parrot, will continue to get a hiding. The best thing to do will be to seperate. Try & find out what the other cichlid is. Usually when adding cichlids to a tank best done in multiples, so to spend any agression too.

ps; How big is the tank? How many cichlids are in there & what types?

Frenchy :D
