Caper
Billaney...I have 9 now, 5 tiger & 4 green, are they just called green barbs :-? Had 5 green, but 1 died I find they school more than my neons in the other tank. They are pretty and so active, I do enjoy watching them which is why I'm leaning more towards getting a few more of them. I do have to watch my numbers though. Billaney, what do you think, should I get 2 more red eyes, would the other 3 "happier" for lack of a better word with more of their own kind, then go the rest with barbs??????? So, right now I only have them & my 3 red eye tetras (whose, thus far, all fins in tact!).
Billaney
Its a personal thing , i'd go with more but differant barbs , as i've done but its your tank and your call Good luck
Caper
Unfortunately, as usual, not much choice here  So far, I've only seen the green, tiger & I think they could have been albino but not sure, but then neither was the person who waited on me! Billaney, what do you think about ottos with them, as I said, if I can get them would like to, but would they be ok with the barbs?
Billaney
As a rule as long as there are 6 or more barbs they tend to leave everything else alone so a couple of otto's should be fine.
Caper
Thanks I have 2 ottos in my 10 gallon and they do a great clean up job, so that & the fact that they are small is why I would like to get them. If I remember correctly, is it one/5 gallons????
Caper
I've noticed that last night and today/tonight they seem to "hang out" by the heater. Darn, tiny thermometer in this tank hard to see but it is in the 70's (find magnifying glass tom to see better). Anyway, I don't like this heater (came with the tank) the control knob has the numbers on the top so harder to tell. Might get the same kind that is in my other tank, I find it easier to tell where the temp is. Gee, hope I'm making sense here, it's 2:15 a.m. Anyway, is this "hanging out" by the heater an indicator or just the spot they pick & I notice that sometimes the do it with their noses pointed down a bit. I was nervous last night that perhaps the tank wasn't warm enough so I turned it up just a bit.
