PATTENC
I have been given a Via Aqua but have never had a cannister filter, I am not sure how to prime it. Any help would be greatful.
ryanjury
I usually just chuck the intake into the tank and start a syphon using the out pipe from the filter into a bucket, when the water fills up the filter and starts flowing out the out hose then hook it upto the spray bar and plug it in.. Luke*
I have one of these too and just create siphon by sucking the water down the intake into the filter, then you shove the end on to the filter and tighten it with the little nut on it. When it's all back together sometimes it helps to get it going by lifting the tubes vertically.
scuzzy
All you need to worry about is air locks in the canister and or in/out tubes. As mentioned make sure you prime it by filling the input tube (sometimes fills by itself when valve is turned on) and also filling the output spray tube with water so that theres no air in it. There is also an air bleed plug I think on those at the top - unscrew it and allow the air to escape then screw it back down. Power the filter and you should be good to go.
