djay
How do you work out the volume of water in your tank, and equipment you would need to keep it healthy. My Tank is 76cm L X 40 cm D X 40 cm H. I have Clear n Clean 3ft Under Gravel Filter a Aqua One SR 9500, A Boyu 18w Light. I need to get a Heater Has any one got some suggetions on what wattage I'd need, I am new to this the other thing was live plants what can you use to weigh them to the bottom of tank safely for fish., I read somewhere here that it is good idea to put polystyrene at back as well as saves on power which sounds good to me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Tanksman
Hi Djay Your tank holds = 0.76*0.40*0.40 = 0.1216 * 1000 = 120 litres approx it's probably closer to 100 litres by the time glass thickness and decorations and the fact that they usually aren't filled to overflowing. As to what type of filter - Any filter that turns over more than 400 litres an hour should be OK for your tank. Be better with a capacity of 600 - 800 litres an hour tho. Your heater should be around 150 w but 100w or 200w will work fine. Thats some of your questions answered - stick around I'm sure you'll learn heaps more
