evilknieval69 Posted March 7, 2006 Report Share Posted March 7, 2006 ok. in my newest tank i have a bit of an algae problem. i have some green furry/thready algae growing on the driftwood and some brown algae growing on the bottom and on some of the plants and the heater!! i am wondering if i put in a couple SAE's, will they eat all of this or not???? the green algae is not BBA but is more of a mucky slimy algae. any suggestions?? thanks **EVIL** :bounce: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
HummingBird Posted March 8, 2006 Report Share Posted March 8, 2006 Dunno about the SAE's, but if the tank's in the sun that's probably what's causing the algae. Or possibly overfeeding. I've had the green furry algae before and it was a combination of the two. Stocking it with a ton of plants would most likely prevent any more algae growing (they'd use the nitrates before the algae could get a chance), but just keep up with weekly water changes and once the tank gets older it'll settle down.
