wasp
It's the one in my avatar, just thought I'd post on it because I'm stoked it's finally starting to grow It was a small frag I got a few months ago from Barry, and it really is as bright as the pic, it's flourescent. When it gets big it will be the most striking thing in the tank. But it's a slow grower so will take a while.

rossco
And for us peasants - wot kinda coral it be? I'm sure I would come home with something else if I asked for a 'cool coral' in the shop!
wasp
Cheers for the interest guys! A better pic? there's a slighly better one in my members tank thread, although this is a very hard coral to photograph. It is so bright it just shows in the pic as an overexposed white blob, on top of which my camera skills are lousy. I just managed to get this one good shot that works, although I'll admit I had to do some of that evil photoshopping to dim it down & show it properly. What kind is it? Sorry, I don't know. Perhaps it should be called a Bazzas Frag It's an acropora of some kind, that's about all I know. My buddy Layton ( no really ) is very good at ID'ing sps, perhaps he could chip in? See one in an LFS? If you do, pounce immediately it will be a rare find. Slow growing too so it will be years before I have any frags. lduncan
My buddy Layton ( no really ) is very good at ID'ing sps, perhaps he could chip in? tenuis (the default catch all species ) Nah, got no idea, can't make out any sort of axial or even radial corallite shapes, which is generally where you start with an ID, along with general coral shape. Anyway, most ID's are pretty random. There are only a handful acro's that you could confidently ID to 99%. Perhaps it should be called a Bazzas Frag If you want it to sell you have to hype it up a bit, how about Bazzas kryptonite green encruster? (Photoshop's not always evil.) wasp
Well thanks for the effort Layton, I did think the pic did not give enough detail but it's the best I can do. I've taken probably 20 shots just to get that good. When it gets a bit bigger I may be able to do a better shot, if so I'll post it up. Sell it? well this coral would certainly enhance any aquarium, but as stated, it would be years away before I would have any frags available, so not planning on selling it any time soon. When fragging time does come, for a little beauty like this it would be gifts or exchanges with friends, not sale for money.
jetskisteve
If its the one at the back of B's tank its from fiji if that helps at all?
wasp
Yes that's the one. I always envied the coral, and he told me everybody wanted a frag but he refused to do it as he wanted the coral to develop. Fair enough. So when he offered me a frag I was :bounce: . Barry himself may decide to sell some frags as his is a good size now, but I doubt they would come cheap.
