IMO that article is full of 1/2 truths mixed with the authors own prejudice.

Considering the health of his own tanks and the breading that goes on in them he has every right to show prejudice.

Eric is showing his age, like a few old reefers it is hard to change from what was the latest technology in 1975.

More like 1985 and I am yet to see a modern system do as well as his and the fact is that they can't.

I can't see anything wrong with the article. it seems to be just like all the others showing what other people are doing and what he thinks of it. Considering that he has run systems that I'm sure all of the rest of you have not I think you guys should show some more respect for him and other people that have done it and clearly shown great continued success rather than just listening to those who have just read about it.

Actually I've got a lot of agreement with what you say Control.

However, I was tough on Eric because there is some history you may not be aware of.

The author of the vodka article Eric is critisizing is a guy Jorg Kokkett, a German marine biologist with a tank certainly more advanced than anything I've seen of Erics.

Jorg published an article on vodka dosing, which Eric took exception too and Jorg, who has done a lot for the hobby, became the object of unfair and even vicious attacks, I was pretty disgusted and lost a lot of respect for Eric. In fact despite all Erics knowledge and his tank which was good in 1985, I think he is out of touch on this issue.

I think Eric was mainly getting at the death of the research which is lacking in allot of what we read these days.

Of which Eric is guilty of in this case, not doing his research.

Also the tanks of Eric's which I have seen, I wouldn't call highly successful. Of course that doesn't mean he doesn't know his stuff, I respect what he has to say on most topics, just not this one.

As a layman who doesnt know much about the background of any of the people you guys are discussing - or their tanks, I wasnt very impressed by his writing.

He starts out attacking the other guys methods - and then is guilty of exactly the same things.

sorry dude...disagree there. where does he "Attack"?
