Adolfo's cory

I have 3 Corydoras Adolfoi and i think they are the best cories (no bias of course). I saw them once at the LFS and decided i'd buy all of them but when i went back there was only 3 left! They are very popular and come at a price of about $30.00 each. I have 2 males and 1 female which i'm trying to breed currently by replicating the rainy season and have them in with just 3 peppered cories which have bred in the past (only know because i found one baby) and apparently the hormones from the peppered cories when breeding stimulate the adolfoi to breed.

One link on the web said in pristine conditions of 6-6.5 pH they breed readily but i have maintained this with no luck so far. However there were neons and some other tetras in there which may have eaten the eggs. They need very soft water because usually come from the wild.

Every now and then I see one in Auckland, sometimes just the writing in twink on the tank but nothing in there so sourcing them will be difficult. Ask at your LFS about them because NZ can get them and does have them :)

Thanks for that, what a shame they are so hard to get. If you have any luck with your breeding program, let me know I'd be interested in seeing how you get on and perhaps if they breed a pile, buying some off you

Hopefully you belong to the Hamilton club.

Ask Rob or Dave, how to get in touch with Craig and Sue from Waitoa.

They are one of the most sucessful cory breeders I know.

They have also bred that Zebra Ancistrus.

Before anyone gets carried away,

NO,

they haven't any more of them left.

Everyone has their price, soI'm told.

If you do a search using the word "Sue and Craig"

I think you will find them.

Thanks Guys,

I managed to get a couple of dear little cats similar to the leopard cats, very pretty markings today at the new Hastings shop which has a great selection of fish! Having just reset up my tank after an absence of a few months these and a small herd of neons, 1 siamese alage eater and 2 baby bristle noses are the first fish to arrive and very pleased with themselves they looked too when they all swam about getting to know each other and checking out the plants and the rocks etc. What fun!

Cheers

Cath
