For the aquarist the implications of these studies is clear, moderate to strong water motion can be a valuable tool in preventing bleaching in their systems due to higher light levels and/or water temperatures. Indeed, as the second study shows, increased water flow can also lead to a more rapid recovery from light induced bleaching, and most likely temperature induced bleaching as well
