in my experience they can start breeding from the moment the male changes colouration from blue to orange.appoximately 5cm.quite an agressive fish and is best kept one male to at least two females....and in a nice crowded mbuna tank to dissipate aggression.hope this helps you in your quest to breed this beautiful fish.

I have a couple that are just starting to colour up, i have a feeling that i may have two males and a female, one has almost gone completely orange while the other is slightly orange, the thirdbeing a definate blu.

Good luck getting urs to bred will tell you if mine start :D
