clarkeymaster
If i have three tanks in a row, all exactly the same size and right next too each other to keep them all heated the same temp could i just have heaters in the two outside tanks and leave the middle one with no heater. would the middle tank be warmer enough. the tank sizes will be no more than 2 footers. chimera
i would doubt it, unless the ambient temperature is approximately the same as what you wish the tank to be at. a tank wont act as insulation for another tank much
HummingBird
Depends how big the tanks are and how much surface contact you have. But it'd be doubtful.
Alan
I use that system, and have the heater in the middle tank. In an unheated garage I have platys, guppies, killies and cichlids in there. Glass is not an insulater and transferd heat. But it will work. Are the tanks inside the house? What fish are you wanting to keep in the unheated tank?? clarkeymaster
i will be keeping american & african cichlids, guppies, bettas, b/n catfish in the tanks.
Alan
Bettas optimum temp is apparently 26oC for breeding. The others should be ok with transfered heat. Alan
