Tanksman
Awesome display and that log is totally impressive. Have you got co2 yet? The ambulia sure is an excellent plant for aquariums.
Thunderstorm
hiya tanksman I got Yeast fermentation CO2 but it isnt enough for the tank of its size so im making a system from a soda stream bottle so see how that goes. May just have to buy a bottle and reg i think. Jude, crypts are my favourite then swords, eventually i would like many kinds of both Thanx Peter

Alan
Once you get a good root system on the plants, then you'll get the growth out of them. Well, up to Shae's standard anyway. Alan
Caper
Thanks for telling me plant name. Are the ambulia a lot of care? So, if I'm understanding correctly...they just keep multiplying???? I love the look of them...I have an artificial plant that kinda looks like that! I don't have real plants in my tanks since I've always killed any plant I've had
Thunderstorm
hi caper mine just grows, I trim it back by cutting the tops off to just below the waterline which makes the plant grow bushy by sending off shoots from the laterals. Why do yours keep dying? Do you have enough light, nutrients? or have you some fish that eat it? Thanx fay for your comments Peter
Caper
Oh...no...never...oh...oh I do not have a green thumb at all! I do not have any real plants in my tanks. Not ready for that yet. The ones I kill are just household plants over the years. My ex used to say I was so bad that I killed artificial plants  But I really like those ambulia you have...maybe someday I would love to try something like that...that is if I can even get them here! Still working on getting used to having fish and learning about them. But when I see tanks like yours ...makes me think that someday I may try! Faran
I recommend live plants in tanks over artificial. They produce oxygen (during the day) and use up nitrates and some nitrites to help the tank with the natural cycle. The fish pretty much fertilize them with poos and wees and there's not mch to do but cut the tops off when doing a water change and planting the cuttings. Soooo easy and the tanks are much more interesting than having plastic fakies (imho). We have a low-light tank for big-eyed fish and I've had to move a few fakies in there as the regular plants were starting to look stringy (always reaching upwards due to not enough light). Honestly the fish don't seem to like the fakies nearly as much as the plants they used to hang out in
Angus
Hiya Tanksman That tank is truely awesome!!! I have a smaller (280l) version but not with the sort of big piece of wood that looks amazing in your setup. I agree about the ambulia. I have what i'd call low light levels (1.3W/g)and hence the ambulia grows long and stringy (long internodes) but it still grows more than 10 cm in a week - amazing stuff. Thanks for the pics! Cheers Angus
Tanksman
Yeah well thanks but the truth is I wouldn't be here accepting this award tonight without the help of.... Seriously though the credit goes to THUNDERSTORM Its his tank not mine. I agree though - that piece of wood is outstanding

Pegasus
Tank looks great Thunderstorm.. excellent work, and the plants look fabulous. But tell me... Where oh where did you get the Madagasca Lace plant...? Has it ever flowered.. and did you save the seeds..? They were as common as horse muck over in the UK.. but here seem like hens teeth.. just about impossible to find. Bill.
Thunderstorm
hiyas thanx for everyones comments most encouraging, I must be doing something right lol. Yes that wood is awesome, i was suprised at such a piece when my friends walked in the door with it, thye bought it for their 4 ft, they were going to chop the ends off and glue it to each end of the tank to make it look like it was floating mid-water but couldnt get it past the tank braces so hence it went in my tank. Big thanx to them Bill - in the pic the "lace" you can see is prolly the osiris (Echinodorus Osiris) . i dont have any lace in there even though i would love a piece of it. Its a awesome plant. Pegasus
Mmmmm... A bit of false advertising to get us oldies excited he he. It was pretty late when I looked at it, and now on closer inspection I see it isn't what the title says Looking good though... Great stuff Bill
