nativelover Posted June 11, 2012 Report Share Posted June 11, 2012 decided to re do my whole tank an went down to the local stream and grabbed a bucket of pebbles an sand put it in tank and water turned to brown mud after fulling in how do i clear it? or is the substrate wrong? Cricketman Posted June 11, 2012 Report Share Posted June 11, 2012 trick is, take the substrate, put in a bucket, then blast the hose in there (not so much as to over-flow the substrate) and mix it around, this will blast most of the loose fine stuff out, but may take some time to get a 100% clear. twinkles Posted June 11, 2012 Report Share Posted June 11, 2012 Was the creek clear? Most of it will settle down over a couple of days, just looks mucky in the mean time. You can speed it up by putting a stocking over the filter outlet, to pick up more of the particles. I didn't wash mine though and just let it sit, clears up fine.
