Belgianbiscuit
Hi, I was thinking of getting some java fern/mosses and was wondering how best to attach those. I noticed people use cotton thread but not sure how that would work on my polystyrene background?
zeebee
Could you use a needle and thread it through the polystyrene?
Belgianbiscuit
Not sure. It's coated in3 layers of cement and epoxy
si_sphinx
I used pins with the ends bent to make a hook and pressed them into the poly background, hooking the rhizome and holding it down. When the ferns had taken hold, I removed the pins. My background was also cemented and had a layer of resin.
jasonnz
You could use an aquarium safe glue and install some small clips or hooks for you to attach the moss to... - or if you empty the tank - apply more cement and epoxy - allowing places to hook the mosses onto ... :dunno: Eventually the moss should hook itself onto something .. so it helps if there is a surface for it to bond with.
