burrowssj
Does anyone have any other ideas for cold freshwater fish suitable for aquaponics?
maxim_nz
viewtopic.php?f=37&t=51725 I'm just using goldfish to get mine started.. Had almost 2 weeks growth since planting, going well. Will post update soon. Mizumo seeds have sprouted. I looking at 20-30 goldfish after 6 months established so I have got plenty of liquid gold to get next seasons tomatos pumping. I'm not sure eels are active enough to generate lots of CO2/waste for aquaponics unless you had HEAPS of them..
spoon
i reckon goldfish would be the only easy way to go, they will breed too among plants so you will quickly have heaps of them
burrowssj
I read that eels were declining in numbers on doc website so probably wont use them, having gold fish would obviously defy the point of aquaponics.... I was thinking salmon or trout (if caught young) would possibly be do-able...
