Samba2641
Hey, I have just started up my wee 38L tank with a few Zebra Danios. ammonia = 0 nitrite around 1.6 nitrate =10 I am lighting it with a typical desk light with a 100w bulb (I think ). Yesterday I noticed a white fluffy growth on the side of one of the pieces of driftwood. Its the side closest to the light. Any one has any idea as to what it is? I was just going to scrape it off? Cheers, Sam
SamH
I get it on my driftwood, harmless and seen my guppies picking at it. On another note, 100W orange light?
Samba2641
Wonderful:) Thank you! I wouldn't have the faintest, that was the answer from the wonderful mr. technical-man He estimated that the bulb was either 75 or 100w
SamH
If it's orange/yellow then it'll just cause algae. Try for a 6500k or Cool Daylight energy saving bulb.
Bishop
How much is there? I know that unfertalised eggs grow a fungus that is white n fluffy. Thought I would mention it just in case.
Samba2641
its not very thick, but theres quite a bit of it. The danios showed more interest in the Windelov but maybe..? I'll get onto finding some proper lighting in the next few weeks, where could I source the ones you mentioned Sam? Thanks
