has anybody used one of these. am looking to move my green and golden bells out into a gauge with pretty much no light. so im wondering if one of these with be fine. they will be in a exo terra 60x45x60 so i would be getting the size to fit (60).

what option would be best

I have a exo terra compact canopy they are great! I would go for the dual canopy as more light And if you wabt the tank to be warmer you can have to halogen bulbs in it. Oh and if you do get a compact dont put and bulb that produces alot of geat in the fixtures i did and it melted the plastic sides of the thing

dual looks best.

i reckon bells do best with a basking light, in a small/tall tank like that they will be ok but the whole tank will tend to heat instead of giving them a gradient/hot and cool areas not that that matters alot for bell frogs, its just less natural. in saying that i have used 40watt basking bulbs in exo terra clip on lamp above same tank before. small halogen bulbs possibly enough for basking.

Below is what i use for whistlers, low power consumption, not alot of heat but enough for them to bask if they wish.

(i removed glass, snapped plastic stick thing off, put on top of same tank as mentioned above in conjucntion with a fluro tube for plants).

EDIT sorry thought you mentioned 45x45x60 tank above. Which is the one i have and is not the best for bells.

Dual unit be best for that tank you have, or make something yourself? Id just put a fish tank light and exo terra basking light (or 60watt desk lamp) myself.

cheers for that man. yer the basking factor was what was making me lean towards the dual top. i think the halogen bulbs will give off enough heat, as we have them in our kitchens extractor fan and they give off a bit of heat. too get some sort of heat gradient i was thinking of just putting in one of the halogen bulbs.
