oneeyedfrog
My first lot of sterbai eggs hatched fine and have grown up no problems. The next 2 lots started dying soon after hatching. In the morning they are moving around normally by afternoon theres afew white bodies. Within a couple of days - none left. I am doing the same as I did the first time. I put the eggs in a container floating in the parents tank with a drop of meth blue and an air stone . Once hatched w/c 2x day with parents tank water. some java moss in there and feeding microworms and bbs. The danio fry that hitched a ride on the moss is still alive. Any ideas on what's going wrong? Thanks
MarkLB
Hi oneeyedfrog. How many eggs/fry were in the first successful batch and how many were in the unsuccessful ones? Did the floating container have any biological filtration or were you relying on water changes to remove toxins? If the unsuccessful batch was significantly larger than the successful one perhaps the volume of water in your floating container was too small and became toxic with ammonia quicker than when you had a smaller population in there. oneeyedfrog
Yep the first batch was smaller. I doubled the amount of water with the other batches as there were more but this could be factor . I might try hatching them in a tank with a sponge filter next time
