DennisP
A dwarf cichlid I have at around 5cm as an injury + infection or disease. First I noticed just a growth on the lower part of his chin (?) but now it has grown bigger and I have noticed that The middle part of his jaw is missing to the lump. Which Is about .5cm. I can see he is in pain and is weak and he is also growing a small lump on his head. I am thinking of euthanizing it but I'm not sure how exactly. Vodka? Help. Also if it is a disease what should I do to the tank?
BikBok
lookup the clove oil method. that puts them to sleep first (anaethetises them) before you add vodka which finishes them off. In my opinion it is one of the most humane methods short of a quick sharp blow but i don't have the stomach for that!
ryanjury
You can also freeze the fish, apparently they shut down slowly and die but a good solid whack on the concrete does a good job
David R
http://www.loaches.com/disease-treatmen ... in-the-sky Its written from a loach-keepers perspective but applies to all fish really.
