Guest
I wanted to know who's breeding or keeping Salvini at the moment? I'm thinking about getting a pair to breed from but wanted some advice. I was going to keep them with kribs. Would they be ok with kribs or should I keep the 2 seperate? Also what would be the minimum sized tank they could be kept in to breed? Thanks heaps Cam
Guest
Also if these aren't any good to go with breeding kribs what else would?
Morcs
You wont be able to keep anything whatsoever with a salvini pair - they will quite easily take over a 4ft tank and destroy anything else in it. And theres a good chance the male might kill the female at some point also. So yeah, 4ft tank, just the pair. The differences between male and female are in the colour and finnage. Females from memory have a black spot in the middle of the dorsal fin which males do not. I havent bred them myself, but have a bit of experience with keeping them. Hope this helps
spoon
my mate has a breeding pair of savinis they are in with a breeding pair of sajicas and some firemouths , kribs got wasted in this tank he has a bns and a few loaches clown kuhli and skunk also some cories which are left alone there are a lot fights between the cichlids though the salvinis are easy the most aggressive fish in his tank

David R
Ditch the kribs and get the salvinis. You won't regret it.
Guest
I decided just to get some convicts I know what your thinking. Why would he get them when everyone breeds them, but I just want a tank where you can see cichlids raising there fry. So I've got 2 pairs of convict and one pair has already layed eggs  :bounce: . I'm also going to get a pair of firemouths next time I'm in the lfs and I may add my kribs to the tank when they're bigger.
