Cory Beeding Tip

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to share something I've just learnt/figured out. I got a group of peppered corys to breed the Saturday before last. I put them in there own 60ltr tank with 3 spawning mops a pot a few rocks and a box filter. I conditoned them up for a week and found the females filled with eggs really quickly. On day four of conditioning them I done a small cold water change and the females almost over night became fat with eggs. Then after 7 days I didn't turn the lights on till 3-4 hours later and when I did I found eggs in the mop. There wasn't many so I thought being their first time breeding they didn't have many eggs. Then this morning I didn't get to turn the lights on till a couple of hours later and when I went out they were breeding again so I left the lights off and left them to it. It's been an hour since I first saw them breeding and they're still going so hopefully I'll get a larger amount of eggs from this spawn that I did the last.

So I think that the amount of darkness they have could be a trigger for breeding. I remember that when I turned the lights off earlier at night and turned them on later in the morning my pandas corys would breed every 2 days but if I turned the lights off later at night and earlier in the morning they would only breed every 4 days.
