spoon
noticed at random last week had two adult females holding , decided to strip one a few days ago wasnt very sucessful got 10 or so eggs so she probably has more in her the eggs i stripped got fungused so i did some more research and built an air powered tumbler and stripped the other female today got about 30 or so fry with egg yolks still attached managed to get about 20 of them into the tumbler (im sure there is a better way to do it than the way i did the tumbler works well so fingereds crossed the fry survive. the peacocks are A. marlieri (red) im not sure what the fathers colour is like as he hasnt fully coloured up and is quite small i have a lot of small males but two are almost 5cm long so im guessing one of them is the father as i have no other peacocks in the tank , the females are the adult mothers of all the smaller fish . are the wrigglers subceptable to fungus as the eggs are? any help gratefully accepted
ryanjury
Congrats on the spawns Are these the reds from Nav? Peacock eggs are hard to tumble from eggs I have had no success with them, I have had limted success with mbuna eggs though. It is all about finding the right amount of air movement past them as some eggs like to be bounced a little harder others not at all.. They are all fairly hardy from 3-4days after hatching though so your wrigglers should be fine in a tumbler.

ryanjury
I don't bother tumbling them if they only have a small egg sack and are swimming around, you will soon tell, if they are all lying around the bottom they need longer if they are actually managing to stay up off the bottom under their own steam they are ready to go into a small tank or guppy trap. As per usual start feeding when egg sack is gone but they will eat some food with a small one still there so not as dangerous as other fish when you feed too early and the tank fouls. smidey
if you gently pump their gills between your thumb & index finger that gets the stubborn fry out to.
