herefishiefishie Posted October 30, 2009 Report Share Posted October 30, 2009 You mean it LOOKS like an electric blue fryeri female there is absolutely no way of telling if it is or not without DNA testing, it could well be a throw back from a cross or some entirely different species we don't seen very often that is what everyone is trying to say on this thread.. But everything looks like something or somethings. Where do you draw the line? I mean, in most cases the fish we get from wholesalers or lfs. We can see they look like they are meant to. But we can only take their word, unless we DNA them too. Electric blues here are dodgy as & chances are a good number in the hobby world wide aren't true anyway. Cross so easy with lithobates & peacocks. At least when they cross with litho's, the dead give away is the young have utaka spots, which they shouldn't. You could try breeding this with what looks like a true male fryeri & see what the off spring look like. Hopefully all have same shape, no spots or stripes.
