nuptial pads, prsent on male frogs only?

the nuptial pad is the black pad on the back of the thumb that colours up when the male is ready to mate. usually only visible for a couple of months per year. females can have same colouring on legs so nuptial pad is best way to sex them. males also have more of a prominent 'adams apple' lump on throat as they have a larger voice box for croaking. this applies to golden bell and green frogs ( litoria aurea and litoria raniformis and prob litoria ewingii too)

thanx varanophile.

all my southern bells seem to have fat thumbs but only some have black thumbs, is it impossible for females to have fat thumbs.

i am talking about 9 frogs in one tank, some of which are defenitely male (they can croak properly), i want to induce breeding but obviously need females in the mix.
