Aquatopia
I have bought a second hand light (bog standard single tube, aluminium case, perspex cover) and the tube cover is pretty munted. I would like to replace it but am wondering if the perspex the manufacturers use are specially treated to cope with heat (although its a flourescent tube they can still get a bit hot in an enclosed space). So does anyone know if this is the case ? I am thinking the easiest way to replace it would be to use glass ? Cheers
spoon
they do get brittle after a while and go yellow and crack its probably what is wrong with ur one. just get some thin acrylic that you can cut with sisscors it will be a lot cheaper than glass and will last 5 or 6 years the heat wont melt it or anething . the aluminum casing works as a heatsink for the ballast this is why the casing gets warm
