joliet
I've just set up a tank, it's 60x30x30cm and has a Ehiem 2008 filter and will get regular maintenace .. but I'd like to get a bottom feeder or alegae feeder to help keep the tank spotless. So I need suggestions on one that you think is best and one that won't outgrow my tank too quickly - if at all. I saw a Pygmy Cory in Organism today and fell in love. But I get the feeling it won't be big enough to clean up after my fish? And I'm probably more inclined to get a fish that will eat any alegae that crops up. I currently have 10 Neon Tetras and a female fighter but would like to get a couple of Platy's along with the bottom feeder too. I'm also thinking of planting the tank, I've got a couple of bunches of Java Fern and a ball of Java moss in there at the moment but definitely want some more plants. Also, with the fish numbers I mention above, would there be any room for more? The lady at my LFS said I could maybe get another female fighter along with a male but I don't know. Another thing - what temperature should I keep this tank at? Again, the lady at the LFS said she keeps hers with similar fish at 30 to keep diseases at bay but would that be too hot? It's currently at about 29 and the heaters set at 28 and the fish seem to be happy. Cheers, Jo
Andrew_W
I just picked up some cool little cory's, they are cool fish, come in a variety of colours. They are schooling fish, and are happier in a group. but they are a great little clean up crew, and from what I hear, they look awesome when they get bigger. the male fighter may bully the female so its good to get to females, so they can have a break from the males sex drive. Amazon swords, and crypts seem quit easy plants to keep. Ambulia (sp*) can grow out of control, they are great.
TM
Pygmy Cory are cool but do best in a school of 4+. Other ones to look at could be a pair of panda corys as they stay smallish. A bristle nose or two would work well also. 29 would be to hot for me, i keep most my tanks at around 25. One fighter is enough i think, a few paltys or guppys could be a go. This is a pygmy Cory though, it was about 2cm long and the guy said that's about a long as they get :-? I'd love to get a few but would that overstock my tank? Andrew_W
To be honest I didn't pay any attention to what type I got. bristle nose like to eat wood. so add some drift wood if you take that root. they are great to, GBA was the 1st fish I ever got. Killi fish would go great. Have some spare if you want to try some. Cool, just looked those up on Google and they seem pretty neat. What sort of colours/breed (? some look different to others) do you have?
