Insect Direct
Anyone got experience with probing beardies? (sounds abit dodgy i know) Cant be that hard but ive heard of people causing damage... still it cant be that hard to do without causing harm? Would be great to beable to sex them at a young age for obvious reasons. Freight - How have people recieved and or sent them in the past? I've heard of some sent in courier bags and cant say thats sounds very safe to me any thoughts any advice appreciated Cheers Matt

Perpin
I have not sent beardies but very many leopard gecko's around the country in SA. The same day courier system is absolutely fine. I mostly flew mine to their new owners. I used a tupperware and taped it shut just to be extra careful. Poked lots of little holes all over and put scrinched toilet paper inside for cushioning. Never lost one!
Varanophile
probing is dangerous in young animals, you can DNA sex them thru a lab in California, but would need to be sent as biological samples to prevent the standard gamma irradiation that the US ueses on all mail post 911. Price is reasonable but hassle is high... Just sell them as unsexed....?
rockwork
when we got ours we drove up to auckland from wellington to get them. i would never ship them via courier i would rather fly them or deliver them. to me its not worth the risk of a courier throwing the bag around. my mother has had turtles delivered via courier, the courier driver was throwing the package up in the air like it was a ball when he was walking up the drive way. he didnt seem to care that it said fragile/live animals on the label. David R
You could buy an animal ticket on an airNZ flight and pick it up from the airport. IIRC thats how evil_elmo got his red aro from auckland to christchurch, just as they would with a cat or a dog. Fairly pricey tho...
