Dave+Amy
Hey, I'm wanting to de-worm my 6foot tank before more Discus arrive, as I've noticed the larger Discus scratching. Been given lots of different advice from using CAT dewormer to Droncit to Furan 2...am a little bit confused, just needing to know which is the fastest and best method. (Liquid prazi is just a lil bit out of my price range at the moment) Thanks, Amy.
ryanjury
Don't use the cat wormer it is mostly other crap (thats bad for your fish) and a small part prazi. Furan 2 is no good for worms because its an antibiotic. Id probably drop the water level as low as possible (use less drugs) and use the droncit (which is just a tablet form of the prazi). I think if you search for droncit etc on here the dosing rates are all layed out? Hopefully someone who knows discus can add some more
Dave+Amy
cheers for that, yeah anymore help would greatly be appreciated - scared about overdosing Yeah I got forwarded a thread about dosage amounts, now gota get the old calculator out for it. But everyone seems to be saying different things on the Droncit pills. I rang up SEVERAL vet clinics in the welllington region - felt like an absolute idiot as lot of receptionists laughed at me when I asked about worming fish
jolliolli
+1 on ryanjury, scratching is usually a sign of gillflukes and prazi (or droncit) is what would usually be recommended. Furan 2 will do nothing for gill flukes or external/internal parasites. I have the dose rate for the liquid form of prazi (prazipro) here but can't remember the dose rate for the tablet form, someone else like discusguru is likley to remember though
ryanjury
If your ring around being confident and knowing exactly what you want what you want it for the dosage rates etc then it helps convince them you know what your doing Preferably find a vet that knows nothing about treating fish and is happy to prescribe you what you want.. Dave+Amy
cool - so now I know to definately get Droncit. Next question: do I just pour the disolved Droncit into the tank? How many times do I do this? ALSO - how do I know that they are better?
Dave+Amy
.... Preferably find a vet that knows nothing about treating fish and is happy to prescribe you what you want.. I might ask my vet school buddies up in palmy and see if they can hook me up with some liquid prazi at a cheap price lol
