Floater
I have a blue ram and currently there is a red lump with a white wormy thing sticking out of it's anus. Should I be worried? What is this? Can it be treated? the lump is about 1mm from the anus and the wormy thing then protrudes a further 1mm. I havn't seen the worm move so I don't actually know if it's a worm lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Scott **EDIT** Just thought I might add that the blue ram seems to be eating fine and displaying normal behavior and none of the other fish are exhibiting any of the same signs. lmsmith
Do you think it might just be a poop? Maybe he's constipated.
Floater
Do you think it might just be a poop? Maybe he's constipated. Doubt it, and I just saw it (not sure if it's male or female) poop. I'd say the anus looks inflamed. But I'm no fish expert.
lmsmith
Look at the side of the fish, there's a black spot. If it black spot has blue spots in it, it's a girl. Otherwise, he's a boy. If he's eating and doesn't seem worried about it, just keep an eye on it but don't stress. If he's well coloured and seems to be healthy looking (rounded tummy, alert in the tank etc), it probably isn't worms. But even if it is worms, it probably wont hurt him too much. Add some salt if you're worried (make sure your other fishes will be ok with it first), or give him a salt bath. Salt fixes lots of things. Bilbo
Keep a very close eye on it. Check to make sure the 'white' isnt slightly pink or red. Also check to see if it sticks further out when the fish is idle and moves in when the fish is swimming.
