yay my first cichlid babies

Was just moving my small holding tank into another room and found lots of baby Melanochromis auratus's, I had thought she was holding but then she didn't seem like she was, so unfortunately i'd put her back in the main tank so I don't know if they're meant to protect the babies for awhile?

These are very tiny so most likely just released when I started draining the tank! I hate to think how many I sucked up the other day doing a gravel clean! :(

Anyway I've only managed to catch and find 6 and move them to another tank so who knows how many more there were, still it's cool that they were happy enough to breed :)

Its all a learning curve with the timing of getting babies out of the cichlids. Pleased you got some of them. Now you started with one lot the addiction will begin. Real buzz when you sucessfully breed. Well done. :bounce:

Yeah I'm addicted, I'm meant to be cutting down my numbers not increasing lol, ashame that I moved the mum too early but like you said all a learning curve. Hopefully the few I got will make it, can't even find them now! Guess they are hiding out somewhere
