chimera
How would it have got fungus? "A true fungus has a cotton like appearance similar to a mold you might find on fruit, bread or cheese except that on fish fungus is always white. They are very difficult to treat once established on the fish. Fungus usually are a secondary invader and result from an injury to the fish or overdosing a tank with antibiotics. Isolate fish with fungus infections in a hospital tank and treat immediately. The best method to control fungus is to avoid fungus producing environments" Regarding salt, what type and how much, read here for a basic idea: http://www.bestfish.com/fwsalt.html Good luck! Alan
Sue, have a look at newbies answer about the salt. The injury may have been caused by the birthing, an egg calcifing and blocking the vent, or other fish helping her to birth and eating the babies at the same time, not an uncommon occurance in a community tank. Goodluck with your attempt at saving the fish. Alan

Alan
Check to make sure she hasn't developed a secondary infection, showing as a ulcerated wound. Like, what is the salt solution. 1tspn to 2 litres?? Isolate Sue
