Any car audio buffs in here?

I am trying to stick the stereo in my 96 avenir, pulled the factory one out and found it has a random aerial plug with 2 centre pins in it and I also cant seem to find an antenna on the outside of the car..

What do I do with these wires to make them fit into my standard sony heatunit? I was going to buy a plug and just put the 2 centre conductors together into it but unsure where they actually goto..

Maybe someone will know im sick of wading through piles of internet pages and it seems there are no useful nissan forums around.

lol this is my best headunit it cost $1k and I don't trust the cowboys at the car audio installation places to play with my car I have done 5 years of electrical training including 2 years at uni :) Unfortunately its all on aircraft and doesn't help here I might try and give them a ring and see what they say its just an aerial so no danger of blowing anything up.

look carefully at ur windscreen u might see a thin wire imbeddd into the glass goin around the outside this is ur aerial, if it gets too hard u could always buy a cowl mount aerial, as for the wire ur factory aerail wire is probably a 2-core conductor where as the more standard aerial systems use co ax like ur tv antennae at home, u cant blow anething up with ur aerial just dont put a current across it , basically the aerial is a conductor made to be a certain impedance to pick up radio waves, these travelling thru the air induce a current in the wire with ur headunit then amplifys

Hey Ryan you can go to any audio shop they should have an adapter for it, it's a nissan thing

Like everyone else has said the aerial is probably in a window at the back.

Supercheap and Repco.

Also have another cheap source

so what amps & speakers etc you running?

At peak my sounds were a clarion double din cd/tape head unit with separate eq, an earthquake 700 watt rms 2 channel amp running two soundstream spl15's, a rockford fosgate amp running 2 pioneer impp 12's, another rockford fosgate amp running 4 cerwin vega stealth series 6's with parrallel run tweeters & a 1.2 farad phoenix gold capaciter to stop the battery going flat & head lights dimming. that was in 1999 in an integra & the sounds cost me around $12K, then my son came along & i became an old man. :-?

Yeah I did have a look at the windows haven't seen anything like that.. Even my pulsar had a standard aerial :) Well aware of what they do and that there is no way I can blow stuff up..

Cheers Tiden will call into a car audio place and see what they have.

lol I don't even think ill bother sticking the sub back in its just not worth it.. I used to have sounds but that was in the GTX, WRX, GTIR day's.. Again these cars are not pratical with the current price of gas and having children hence the family wag :) But getting sick of the crappy stereo with no band expander.
