Tigger
we had two dwarf blue gourami in our tank but one fell ill so we put him in the hospital tank to get better and thankfully he did. The one that fell ill had always been the less dominant of the two so we were concerned about how to reintroduce him to the tank without the other one bullying him. We decided to do a swap nd give him chance to establish himself in the tank for just a couple of days. Yesterday we put the one that had been more dominant back in and the other one went mad and started really harassing him to the point where we had to take him back out again for fear he would get injured. So my question is how do reintroduce my gourami to his "friend" without him being bullied? Any suggestions please otherwise I think I might have a blue dwarf gourami in need of a new home! SpidersWeb
Add more It prevents the one-on-one problem, and will reduce territorial issues. Assuming your tank is big enougn. Or remove them, redecorate, and readd both at the same time.
Dog-eating Tetra
yea redecortaing helps with the agression. thats what i try to do when i introduce new fish so my red dwarf gourami doesn't hassle the new tank mate and it does help. Tigger
Well we have bought some more plants, moved the decor about a bit and put both fish in together and while they are currently still going for each other it isn't as bad as last time. If they continue over the next hour the lady in the aquarium shop suggested putting one in a spawning net overnight to get him used to having the other in there but ot able to fight so we will try that and if that all fails one will be going back to the aquarium shop this weekend after a few more days in our hospital tank! Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that though as we like them both!
