Caper
Puff my veiltail goldfish lost most of his tail fin (oh, many months ago). After putting my goldfish in a bigger tank, it appeared that the tail started to grow (which could just be a coincidence). Anyway, was looking at him last night & just now, I noticed red streaks in his anal fins. I have't noticed it before but then I as always trying to get a good look at his tail fin. Any ideas about the red streaks, is it possible they are part of his coloring & I never noticed it before? Also, he's been moved into the 10 gallon (at least 3-4 weeks now) because I saw one of the other goldies possibly nipping him. The only other fish in with him are 3 cory's. I'll test the water & post results although I just did a water/cleaning yesterday. Off to test tank..... ammonia - 0 pH - 6.8 nitrates - 10 Caper Caper
sharn
Blood streaks are usually a bacterial infection or septicemia i think. Try googling for pictures and see if it looks similar
Kelsta
When you say 'red streaks' do you mean blood red, or the orange goldfish colour? It's just that goldfish colours can change (this is normal) and my goldfish had a white tail, but the his organge spread in two little streaks out to the end of his tail fin. However, if it's blood red, and he's lost most of his tail, I'd be concerned about infection. Good advice to google the picture. Good luck. Caper
I didn't provide any treatment. Kept a close eye on him to watch if anything else became visible. Kelsta, they were blood red streaks...but now they are all gone! Caper
